    Hohhot has a long history,profound culture and numerous historical sites.There are above 60 key historical relic protection units over city level,of which 19 units autonomous regional level,6 units national level.There are wonderful ancient civilization"Dayao Culture (big kiln culture)"sites,Zhao Great Wall historical sites,one of the China oldest Great Wall,which lie in Daqingshan Mountains ,as well as Zhaojun Museum,the symbol of friendship and solidarity for nationality .Hohhot is known as "Zhao city" reputation,the Zhao temple culture has long history since ancient times.The so-called "the whole city with a half-city Zhao".the most representatives are "Da Zhao Temple","Xilitu Zhao Temple" and "Wushutu Zhao Temple" three of them are well-preserved.Also the Baita Temple(the White Temple ) build in Liao Dynasty and Wuta Temple(the Temple of the Five pagodas)build during in the Emperor Yongzheng,Qing Dynasty,"Jiangjun Yashu"(the office for General in Suiyuan city Qing Dynasty),and the "Gongzhu Fu"(Princess House),build for Shuo Ke Jing Princess ,the six daughter of Emperor Kangxi Qing Dynasty,each one above have their own characteristics.
7.2 Folk Art
    Hohhot has developed a unique local culture and art mixing of all ethnic groups,representative folk art are Mongolian special music,Mongolian dance,Humai xoomei which is a skill for singing.
    In addition,the local opera "the two Tai" and "Taige" (carrying cabinet dance), "Naoge"(carrying cabinet by head dance) and "Shehuo show" (Social fire performance) are characteristics in region. "the two Tai", "Naoge" "Jianzhi"(paper cutting), "Pashan Diao"(Climbing tone,a skill of singing) was line up the record of China's non-material cultural heritage.Horinger County,was named "the home town of Chinese folk paper cutting" by the State Ministry of Culture for his unique folk paper cutting art.Zhaojun Cultural Festival,which held succession for ten years,is not only a Hohhot cultural construction event, but also the beautiful name card for city image,was judged one of the Top 10 China's festivals Hohhot also has become the well-known festival city.
7.3 Distinguishing Food
    Hohhot has long history in regional food culture with unique flavor. There are two series the traditional Mongolian style food and local flavor food .traditional Mongolian food divid into Red Food and White Food.The White Food are a wide variety of dairy products including the skin of milk, and DouFu of milk.And the Red Food are mainly meat products especially beef and mutton. The well-done,fresh and delicious Red Food always are favorite meals in the masses of all ethnic groups in Huhhot region such as Roast Whole Lamb,Yangbeizi(a cooking style for mutton),Roast Leg of Lamb,Hand Hold Mutton.In addition,distinguishing food not only deeply loved by local people ,but also are popular with foreign visitors such as Shaomei(steamed open dumplings),Youmian(some kinds of noodle),milk tea,fried rice,butter and Kumiss.
